Give the gift of bilingualism at the best age!

There’s a short period of time, a critical cognitive window before the lateralization of the brain turns language into a rigid, hard to reach compartment. During this period the mind has functional plasticity. This lasts from infancy to age 8!

Mme Cécile
Educational director and teacher
Hello! I am Cécile, a school teacher for ten years, certified from the ministry of French national education and a graduate of a STAPS Master (science and techniques of physical and sports activities). Originally from Lyon, I taught there, as well as in Brittany and here I am for two years in Normandy! My experience spans from preschool to elementary school. I like teaching, it’s fascinating, changing and yet complex: How to motivate all the students? How to manage a new class? How do you make sure that everyone finds their way and succeeds? Qualities such as empathy, kindness and sometimes a “touch of madness” seem necessary to me when approaching this profession. When I started teaching, I did two internships in Belgium, one in a Freinet school and the other in a Steiner school for more than a month, two varied pedagogies rich in ideas! Then the same year, in immersion for a month in German-speaking Switzerland, I taught sport and French to children from all over the world. I also took part in an observation course in a Montessori school, here in Cherbourg, it was fascinating and the team is dynamic and welcoming! I am also very interested in sign language; I have been learning to sign with my 2 year old daughter for almost 1 year! It is a good alternative to communication. Athletic, I played basketball for 18 years in competition where I have great memories. I like to share time with family and friends, laughing, good food, country dancing and travels, however short they may be! Hope to meet you !
Ms. Vanessa
French Teacher
Hello parents! I am Mrs. Vanessa. I was born and raised in Paris. I took the plunge with my husband and we moved to New York 2 years ago to start a new adventure. With a masters degree in education from Paris la Sorbonne University, I have 4 years of experience teaching in kindergarten and high school. Teaching is a vocation for me, and I believe in a personalized education that takes into account the personality of each child, their needs and their pace. I believe in educating children through play, and love to develop Montessori and science activities for the development and fun of toddlers. My love for travel has taught me the importance of making our children open-minded, culturally aware citizens of the world. In my free time I love to read, go for a walk in nature and enjoy my family and my daughter who is a few months old. I am also passionate about chocolate, French cheese and of course our national baguette that goes without saying!

English Teacher
Hi! My name is Ms. Katherine and I will be your English teacher. I am a certified teacher and received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Early Childhood/Special Education and Childhood/Special Education grades 1-6 from New York University and Hunter College. For the last five years, I worked as a preschool teacher and delivered creative and hands-on-lessons where children are empowered to construct knowledge and inquire about the world around them. I am a lover of literacy and have experience working with children of various ages and abilities. I have taught English Language Learners and children with dyslexia to read and write using a multisensory approach. On any given day, you can see me bringing books to life by acting out stories, using props, and challenging children to think critically about stories. I am an energetic and passionate teacher, and I believe in nurturing the growth of the whole child. I am dedicated to creating fun and engaging activities that connect to children’s interests and inspire a love of learning. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy cooking and learning about different cuisines from around the world. I also love traveling and exploring new places. I will be your English teacher in the dual language program.

She then returned to Canada to continue her teaching career, before returning to Thailand to broaden her experience of teaching in different countries with different cultures. Therefore, in 2019, she accepted a kindergarten teaching position at the French International School of Pattaya in Thailand and worked this year as a Petite Section teacher at the Lycee Francais International de Londres Winston Churchill. She is passionate about the teaching profession and loves taking on new challenges. She enjoys working as part of a team and is always looking for ways to maximize the development of her students. The integration of the cultural component has been a key element, as one of the most direct approaches to learn about a foreign language and how to teach it. I have also worked in the development and adaptation of instructive material to teach Spanish. I have been exposed to diverse perspectives of education while in France, as a selected participant for the Spanish Teacher Exchange Program, sponsored by the French Ministry of Education.
